Is Downright a buyout library?

No, Downright is a high-quality library that is licensed on a per use (needledrop) basis or on an annual blanket license to selected clients. Our rates are among the most competitive in the industry for the highest quality production music.

What kind of music does your library contain?

We have CDs featuring virtually every style of music including: Drama, Comedy, Pop, Rock, Dance, R&B, Blues, Country, Jazz, Big Band, Orchestral, News & Sports, Latin, Christmas, and more. With dozens of styles and thousands of tracks, you'll have everything you need at your fingertips for all of your musical needs.

How do I report music usage?

For needledrop clients, music usage may be reported by phone, fax, mail or e-mail.

Who can license the library for an annual license fee and how much do the license fees cost?

We offer licenses on a needledrop (per use), annual blanket and production blanket basis. Licensing is available for TV, cable, radio and other production facilities including corporations. We promise a competitive quote, so please contact us directly and we'll chat.

How many libraries do you release per year?

We add between 1-2 new libraries  per year. Additionally, we update all of our libraries at least once per year.

I made changes to the video and/or voiceover in my production. Do I need to re-license the music? (for needledrop clients)

Yes. Any revisions of the production or release in a new format requires an additional license.

Do I need to obtain a performance license from organizations like ASCAP or BMI?

It is the responsibility of broadcasters to hold valid performing rights licenses with ASCAP or BMI (in the U.S.) or with their affiliated societies (outside the U.S.). Broadcasters not licensed for performing rights through such societies are subject to clearance of performance rights directly from Downright.

How do I find the right piece of music?

MusicMiner is our state-of-the-art, online, audio search tool available on the net. You can perform a search on our entire library offering utilizing thousands of different combinations of key parameters such as style, genre, instrumentation, tempo, etc. We are also available to assist you with music search and selection.

If my business is not located in the U.S., who should I contact to license the Library?

We serve all clients directly in the United States and Canada only.
